Hey im new here and ive noticed alot of people dont like From the Land. I think its a pritty great song apart from the keyboards maybe. Does anyone feel the same?

the people on that page mostly just diss the keyboards...but its a demo...alot of demos have keyboard stuff on them when the writer is thinking about putting a string arrangement there, you can't really hire a an orchestra to come in and play for your 4 track.

But I don't hate the whole song...it's an decent song, I bet if it were cleaned up it could sound pretty good.

Sorry, I didn't read the whole post first. Yeah I didn't really think of that, mostly becuause I don't really think those keyboards really sounded like strings. Aren't the strings on Winning Days fake? Probably keyboards?

Oh no, the ones on Winning days don't sound fake at all. I just got some weird impression it was a keyboard, I don't know. They sound good.

The keyboards make that song. They sound like bagpipes. And that is the point.
" waiting for people from the land, where everything is green". If that doesn't sound like a little piece of Scotland to you, then you have missed the point. "I am commander of the waves, the sand by the sea." It's a very earthy song. I'm not saying Craig was thinking of Scotland, but it is a romanticism of Land and Sea....old times, etc. The keyboards give it that old feel.

The keyboards belong. Nuff said.

yah that's what is it!! bag pipes. That's why I didn't think it sounded like strings. I used to be a string player until last year. I guess I knew it sounded nothing like strings...

i like the keyboard in a way too! sometimes it's quite amusing too when i have to imagine craig playing it and being happy about it!

I love From the Land. it's one of my favorite songs actually. wonderful lyrics and just overall really thought provoking. i don't mind the keyboards at all i dont know why people think its so awful.
