indeed indeed. I have their 'Rush of Blood to the Head' album. It's pretty good, but i want to get their latest...X & Y? is that it? Coz i love Fix you and Speed of Sound. I reckon their really talented mainly because most of their songs make me want to cry...is that talented? i don't know...

yeah X & Y is their latest, it's great! I lot of their songs like the scientist, green eyes and fix you make me want to cry too. I love how Chris Martin can write brilliant love songs without making them sound all sappy.

I am sad that they lost the music they made on the first two albums. They have lost the vibe...

I really like Coldplay. I've been a fan since the beginning. I wasn't a big fan of X&Y until I saw them live. Now I like the album. Their live gigs are really good. I've seen them twice. They really know how to captivate huge arenas and that's amazing for a band that hasn't been around that long.

Sounds positive. But the concerts are so expensive.
Brooklyn Girl
Nov 12 2005, 12:47 AM
That is true which is why I prefer smaller gigs but I make exceptions for certain bands that are in their element in large arenas (ie, Radiohead, Oasis).

I'd prefer Oasis in a club. But... They are just too good.

Yeah, Radiohead.

OK, OK, you are right. But... Clubs are much better.

No.
So what is?
Only Blur and Oasis left (because Pulp weren;'t actually easier, musically). And Suede? They don't sound like "the britpop sound" either. Most good "brit pop" band don't. I mean: come one, Kula Shaker?... Oh, well, actually, they did sound like Oasis on drugs.

Dec 16 2005, 01:39 AM
Pulp did actually typical Britpop since His n Hers 1994.
Suede no. The Verve not really. (Notice: typical)
but there are
Echobelly, Menswear, Boo Radleys, Ash, etc,
left.

Pulp were shit. Oasis and Blur got the spot light, Jarvis and co took the back seat. They were later classed as "Brit Pop" but, at the time, no-one payed attention to them. They were awful.

You know I like Pulp. But while they were trying to change and create britpop there were just always on the outside because they did sound different! There was no Brit Pop before Blur and Oasis. Musically of course but not mentally.

I'm not sure. What did pre-Pulp stop? For you with His n Hers?
Britpop is such a loose genre. I mean with "metal" you can at least grasp the kind of music but here it's more used as a term for a period of time and the music that was escaping. Brit Pop was rather England trying to find something so they wouldn't have to stand there with empty hands when facing America's Grunge wave.

Britpop is always around. It still is.

Actually it is a stupid term to use.

I even say britpop to Beat music... Like... I feel that Britpop was around in the 60s, I mean... It was the "British invasion", but... it was Britpop...
Argh, I don't care. I dig britpop.

Britpop comes from damn Great Britain! So what is typical?! I mean... If it is pop with guitars and, well... from GB... and... I can't explain it. But... there is no typical britpop, either it IS britpop or not.
I give up. But for me I am right. I don't really care what other people think what britpop is.

I just listen to music and I like it and that's it. I feel like Coldplay's third album cannot be called britpop. Ah, it's too hard to explain.

I don't feel like it is only temporarily. Even if I don't use it in the right way...

What would you call Oasis now? Or... Travis? Guitarpop? That's too basic. I mean... Ah, yeah... I remember our long discussions what "Pop" actually is.

Anyway... Almost every popular band... Ah, here you go.

Well, almost every pop band uses guitars...
So you just HAVE to call it britpop, even though it is not the britpop period anymore.
