That we don't need a thread for evry band... So what do you think about Bright Eyes, Now It's Overhead, Azure Ray, The Good Life, Sorry About Dresden and Son, Ambulance? Did I forget a band? I like Now It's Overhead most, cause the songs are so... special.

Most of these bands are decidedly shit. The Faint sound somewhere between a bad Happy Mondays cover band meets Oingo Boingo.
All of Baby Conor's projects are foul. He can't perform his way out of a paper sack in a concert, his lyrics are cringeworthy. He started playing out of some sort of weird Simon Joyner fetish and he's only gotten worse. I really dug the prog rock tendencies mixed in with his forgettable indie-folk crap on the last record.
Cursive needs to stop pretending like they are Fugazi meets the Cure. Tim Kasher's warble borders scarily on pre-teen girl.
I could go through the others, but they are too indiscriminate to describe.
All in all, Saddle Creek has killed real rock 'n roll from developing in Omaha. If it wasn't for Baby Conor and his minions, the Carsinogents would still be together and probably would get some nice attention. Instead, they broke up.
Meanwhile, Simon Joyner is content to open for Oberst. Joyner, who was a favorite of the late John Peel, is probably one of the best Cohen-esque songwriters on the 90s.

I'm a big Saddle Creek fan. You also forgot Beep, Beep and Desaparecidos who are two of the better bands on that label.
Like any label there are the less good bands on the label, I mean I'm not the hugest Azure Ray fan but they're not a bad band by any means. Something I have found with a couple of the bands is that they've clocked in on Bright Eye's attraction and perhaps molded their sound slightly too much leaning towards that sound rather than development of their own sound. But I've been a big Bright Eyes fan for ages anyway so it's all good with me!
Now it's Overhead are so pretty you're right. The songs are really atmospheric and beautiful but I can see how they might not be everyones cuppa tea! It's quite surprising they're not bigger over here because with artists like Michael Stipe doing backing vocals on a track would surely be enticing to a couple of the huge REM fans that we still have over here!
And The Faint are just fabulous for when you're getting ready for a trashy night out at an indie disco, they're regulars on my sets!

I like Bright Eyes best. Brilliant but i dont need to praise him so much here, enough Conor-fans anyway.
I dont really know the other bands except Azure Ray which I like.
