I agree with you. It does appear to be in poor taste.
And i saw his reply/defense if you will.....And he calls that a tribute? rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

I mean....maybe he means well...and didn't mean any harm by it....and i realize that. Plus he was drunk....not that its any excuse....but... whatever...

But what gets me is...why is he posting it on youtube for all to see?? ..other then to get people to laugh at it. mellow.gif Basically...to laugh at Craig indirectly. huh.gif

There's a reason why most of us Vines fans thought it was obnoxious. Probably because thats how it appears.

And i cant believe Jak or KJ don't realize that. They're not drunk and off their faces now. It's been put up on youtube to get laughs! ..and its working if you look at the new comments.
I mean...can you think of any other reason?? I cant.
Idk..would Craig find it funny? its hard to say. He may..he may not.

I personally would never post anything like that on youtube....if one of my friends did that. Even if it WAS all in good fun. It just looks really bad and in poor taste..thats all im saying.

I personally was laughing at Jak... not at Craig.

I really don't see any bad taste in it... bad singing and drunken idiocracy maybe tongue.gif I'm sure you can find loads of videos on youtube of drunken karaokers... and some who are even taking the mickey out of their artist of choice. Thats how karaoke works.

I don't know Craig at all but I'd be damn surprised if he sits around thinking to himself: "Oh dear I rolled around on stage and knocked over a micstand. How embarrassing! I hope no one EVER imitates me! Oh fuck... what if they wear a feather boa make a drunken fool out of themselves and post it on YouTube!? What will people think of me??"

Hm.. well, I personally don't know Craig {obviously}, but I *think* he would at least be a teensy bit offended by this, because these people {Jak & KJ} are not just anyone.. it's his girlfriend and her friend/band mate. Maybe I am looking too deep into this, but I don't like someone that I admire so much being made fun of.

It's a hard one to call on weather he is mocking craig or just being a drunk dick.... but a stupid move to put it on youtube for all to see.If it's a drunken night out and you thought it was worthwhile showing to anyone, maybe craig would be that person....... Just a thought mellow.gif

he's mocking, that's a fact. being drunk has nothing to do with this. because you can still actually think by yourself, even if you can't use 100% of your brain. the idea is still yours, he certaintly was drunk i don't deny it. he went singing by himself, and starting making fun of Craig by himself again because i don't think it was KJ's idea. the thing is, even if it wasn't mean to be nasty, just the act shows that he already thought that Craig's behaviour onstage was like that (as we saw on the video, he acted wild) and then he reproduced it. it probably doesn't make any sense to you, i have hard times describing what i'm thinking about this. oh, whatever ..

It still doesn't look like he was "making fun" of him to me. He was doing an imitation and he said himself that it wasn't a mockery or malicious. Friendly imitation is a form of flattery (even if the imitation is a bit drunken and off key at times). I can't grasp what the big deal of him putting it up publicly is either. It's a funny video. He probably has a lot of friends he wants to share it with.

Why anyone would find that funny or impressive is beyond me. A drunken tool brutally hammering an otherwise damn good song by acting like a poor man's version of Craig? Doesn't do it for me. Basically, I would dislike the video if it were Craig or Ryan, or Mother Teresa, because the clip basically sums up the type of people I despise - drunken fools that think they've got the world by the balls because they got booze and an ego disproportionate to their talent.

I really don't see what you guys are making a fus about laugh.gif . They just looked like they were having a whole heap of fun singing a Vines song, I doubt very much that they meant any harm. I mean isn't that what karaoke is all about? Having a few drinks with friends, chosing your fave songs and going way over the top singing them and having a laugh? If singing a Vines song badly is a crime, then I'm guilty too laugh.gif .

People are being protective, I think that's it. Or part of it.

The word you're looking for is 'hypersensitive'.

Which in turns translates into 'fangirl'.

so ryan, craig and davey lane (you am i/the pictures) are drunken tools as well, because i watched them butcher some sugergrass songs at a vines aftershow party ali, maddie, joey and i were lucky enough to attend. here i thought it was all in good fun, but if we're going to apply the same rules to them you're applying to the follow, then supergrass fans have reason to get their knickers in a twist as the songs were sloppy and song off-key and not performed with the 'reverence' you're apparently suppose to show a band if you're gonna perform their songs.

good thing i haven't shared the video with anyone - esp supergrass fans. unsure.gif

i understand we all love our boys, but let's not take things too seriously and give the follow - who are friends of the band - the benefit of the doubt.

Jen...i think people are just more careful when it comes to Craig because of his AS and because he is known to have outbursts and erratic behavior on stage. And i think we're all a little more protective..which is natural.....Not fangirly like Fee says. rolleyes.gif laugh.gif ..cause even kazzama who is a boy didnt like it. And who cares anyway...fangirl....fanboy. We're all just fans..but thats another subject all together.. laugh.gif

But Jen..i really think it was just genuine concern. You have to remember. We dont know these people...Jak and KJ or any of them...so of course its only natural to kinda think..hmmm... ..is he kosher? confused0006.gif

And maybe some of us aren't used to karaoke.. laugh.gif ..I actually never go myself..blush.gif ...and maybe he was more drunk then i thought. unsure.gif

So..thats basically i think where most of us are coming from.

p.s. Did i put enough smilies in this post yet? LOL

Dude you should have seen what I did to a Gnarls Barkley number a few months ago after God knows how many tequila shots....

sadly the only other person I know who could have given some account of it was at the time preoccupied (due to God knows how many tequila shots) in the ladies room

Ahaha! I remember that laugh.gif I thought they did a pretty darn good job of Mary... though I was a bit tipsy too so uh maybe I wasn't the best of judges laugh.gif .

I think Fee summed up my thoughts best in reguards to this whole over-reaction tongue.gif .

I mean, I know people are honestly concerned about the band and want the best for those in The Vines and that everyone's intentions here are good. But no-one here actually knows the Vines... we know their music, watched interviews, maybe met them for 5 minutes after or before a show... but does that mean we know them all personally? Does that give anyone here a right to judge other people in their lives? Of course not. The simple fact here is that the only people who are in any position to judge the validity of the friendships and relationships of the members of the Vines, are the members of the Vines. It is no business of ours at all. Their life is their life, and people who believe that they have the right to verbally rip apart people in the lives of the band on a public forum are just plain ignorant and delusional. I know you mean well, but your concern is misplaced, leave the private lives of the band to the band.

hahaha yeah they were pretty bad! But it was hilarious...good fun smile.gif
not everything in life is meant to be taken seriously...and I'd say karaoke couldn't be a better example of that! I think I've only done it once at an actual karaoke bar...basically the only thing I remembered the next morning was that my friend and I sang 500 Miles by the proclaimers. Oh, and how fun it was to do that part in the chorus that goes like "da da da da..." . I probably just picked whatever key I liked and ran with it tongue.gif ...luckily probably no one noticed how horrible it was cos the whole place was just a giant sot pit ( laugh.gif laugh.gif )
